The Social Democrats have increased slightly and are still the largest party in the Gothenburg municipality with 20.4 per cent, according to figures from the Election Authority.
However, the Left Party has made significant gains and is now larger than the Moderates. They finish on 17.6 per cent when almost all districts are fully counted, an increase of 5.3 percentage points since the last EU election.
The Green Party also receives 17.6 per cent, an increase of 1.8 percentage points.
All other parties have declined in Gothenburg. The Moderates receive 15.2 per cent, the Christian Democrats 9.9, the Centre Party 6.7, the Centre 5.6 and the Liberals 4.9 per cent.
