The Minister of Justice refers, among other things, to the fact that relatives of crime victims today cannot get redress in cases where the perpetrator is under 15 years old, such as in a murder case.

Behind every figure is a crime victim and relatives of crime victims who, because we cannot impose a sentence, also cannot get redress, says Strömmer.

He also points out that with the current legislation in the area, it becomes more difficult to protect society from dangerous individuals.

Several children's rights organizations have directed criticism at lowering the age of criminal responsibility, arguing that this goes against a Swedish criminal law tradition.

On Tuesday, an inquiry into lowering the age of criminal responsibility, set up by the government parties and the Sweden Democrats in 2023, will be presented.
