An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 shook Los Angeles during Thursday morning. The centre of the earthquake was located 7 kilometres north of Malibu and 11 kilometres beneath the surface.

The vibrations from the earthquake were felt by residents within a 72-kilometre radius, all the way to Orange County.

According to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, the rescue service is out inspecting for any potential damage. So far, no personal injuries have been reported.

Stars like Paris Hilton write in posts on X that they felt the earthquake. Khloe Kardashian writes "Wow, that was a big one" on X.

California has been hit by several earthquakes so far this year. At the same time, fires are raging in the southern parts of the state after a prolonged heatwave.
