The police in Brazil say they have found messages on former President Jair Bolsonaro's phone showing that he wanted to fly to Argentina and apply for political asylum with President Javier Milei.
Bolsonaro and one of his sons are formally accused of obstructing justice in connection with the ongoing trial, in which he is accused of having attempted to stage a coup after he lost the presidential election in 2022.
He denies the allegations of the attempted coup.
