Small Savers Buy in the Stock Market Crash

Since the Stockholm Stock Exchange opened at 09:00, there have been more buy transactions than sales at the online broker Avanza. It seems that savers are pressing the buy button a bit more here to find bargain buys. There are approximately 30 per cent more buy transactions than sales, says Philip Scholtzé, savings economist at Avanza.

Philip Scholtzé sees this as a positive signal in the gloomy stock market situation.

The worst situation you can be in today is if you have taken too high a risk with your money and now have to sell. This rather indicates that our customers are saving for the long term and see this dip as a buying opportunity.

When the Stockholm Stock Exchange opened, the number of trades that were executed on Avanza was double compared to Friday, although much of it may consist of orders placed over the weekend.

It's important to read up and form your own opinion about how the situation can affect the companies you're invested in, both in the short and long term. Then you might get a calmer feeling in your stomach, says Philip Scholtzé.
