According to the law, which has been in effect for about a year, prosecutors can decide to freeze assets for individuals suspected or convicted of terrorist offenses.
The law is intended to prevent terrorist acts and we have made the first freezing decisions last year, says Chief Prosecutor Per Lindqvist, who made two of them, to Ekot.
Those who have had their assets frozen include, among others, a man in his 20s who was convicted on Friday for sending money and attempting to travel to join the terrorist group IS.
The law is intended to make it easier for Sweden to live up to a UN resolution on preventing terrorism.
