The author Ruth Kvarnström-Jones has been crowned the winner of the competition "The Feelgood of the Year" for the novel "The Phenomenal Women at Grand Hôtel".
"An uplifting tribute to female solidarity, to strength and morality. Together, the women in the novel form a microcosm where they strive and struggle, without backing down when men challenge them", reads part of the jury's motivation, according to a press release.
The competition is organized by the Feelgood Festival, where readers get to vote for their favorite book. Four books then proceed to an external jury.
The three other nominated books were Anna-Lena Brundin and Jan Sigurd's "Anki Goes to Paris", Åsa Hellberg's "España por favor" and Karin Härjegård's "The Pianist by the Mountain Lake".
During this year's festival, a newly established prize was also awarded, the "Feelgood Festival's Honorary Prize", which was awarded to journalist Kerstin Särneö.
