Several people have been killed in a Russian attack on the major city of Dnipro in Ukraine.
In the east, reports are emerging that Russia is advancing in the strategically important city of Tjasiv Jar.
Russia's Defense Ministry says that Russian forces have taken control of a district in Tjasiv Jar, which is located on a strategically valuable height near Bachmut in eastern Ukraine.
Russia has been pushing in the area for several months, and the takeover could facilitate future Russian offensives. The Russian claims receive some support from Ukrainian sources, where unofficial sources are reporting similar advances in Tjasiv Jar.
In a Russian attack on the major city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, at least five people have been killed and nearly 30 injured, local authorities announced on Wednesday morning.
Ukraine's air defense shot down several drones and rockets, but the attack was "massive", according to Ukrainian sources. Images published in Ukrainian media show smoke clouds over the city and people fleeing the affected area in cars.
Since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian forces have repeatedly targeted Dnipro, which previously had around one million inhabitants. At the end of June, one person was killed and twelve injured when a Russian drone hit a residential building in the city.
