It is reported by the London-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory (SOHR), but the information has not been confirmed.
"Local factions have taken control of more areas in the province of Daraa, including the city of Daraa. They now control more than 90 percent of the province, as regime forces are gradually withdrawing", writes SOHR.
In the city, peaceful, regime-critical protests were held, which began in 2011 and later escalated into the country's brutal civil war. The hardline regime in Damascus regained control of large parts of Daraa in 2018, with final battles against opposition forces in connection with the Russian-led settlement in 2021, which led to a ceasefire.
