The battery manufacturer Northvolt called an shareholders' meeting on Wednesday to discuss the financial crisis and attempts to raise more money, reports the news agency Bloomberg with reference to sources with insight.

The meeting concerned attempts to secure a rescue package of around 300 million dollars (equivalent to nearly 3.3 billion kronor), according to the information.

The company's press chief Erik Zsiga writes in an email to TT that Northvolt cannot comment on the meeting at present.

Northvolt – in financial crisis since earlier this year – is still chasing multi-billion amounts for both short- and long-term financing.

Negotiations are underway with owners, lenders, and customers. The focus has been for some time on saving the core business in Skellefteå, where the company has now concentrated most of its resources to get up production capacity at the Northvolt One battery factory.
