Hungary's parliament has approved a law that bans "pride events". The wording is described as an attack on the rights of LGBTQI individuals.

The bill, which aims to ban the annual Pride parade in Budapest, was written by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's right-wing populist ruling party Fidesz. The party claims that such a parade can be harmful to children. What is referred to as "promotion" of homosexuality for minors was banned in 2021 in Hungary.

According to the new law, it will be possible to fine individuals who participate in or organize a Pride parade. It will also be possible to use facial recognition to identify individuals who participate.
