At 2 pm on Friday, an alarm about a shooting was received in Geneta, western Södertälje. A man in his 20s was found shot and injured at the scene.
He was found under a bridge. This is on the outskirts, a stone's throw from residential buildings, says police spokesperson Anna Westberg.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance. Late in the afternoon, the police announced that he had died from his injuries.
He had been shot multiple times, says police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.
Several police patrols were sent to the scene after the alarm about the shooting.
About half an hour after the shooting, a teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of murder. The boy was stopped and checked because his description matched what witnesses had reported.
The police do not want to comment on whether the suspected murder weapon has been found.
I'm not going into that, but we've made several different finds that will be investigated, says Daniel Wikdahl.
It's too early to say whether the murder can be linked to the criminal gang environment, according to the police.
