The day before Christmas Eve, SVT is broadcasting the special program "Christmas - Sing-along at Skansen" from the Sollidenscenen stage at Skansen in Stockholm. The stage is normally the home of the popular summer version, led by Pernilla Wahlgren since last year.
But now, Wahlgren will guide the audience through both new and traditional Christmas carols.
It's actually strange that this hasn't been done before, because if there's a time when you love to sing together or go to a concert, it's at Christmas, and everyone knows the songs, she says.
The fact that the event is taking place at Skansen is very fitting, according to Wahlgren - and not just because the "regular" "Sing-along" is recorded there.
Skansen is extremely associated with Christmas. I myself visit the Christmas market there every year, it's a tradition, she says.
The setting will be the same as for "Sing-along", but with a significant difference:
Instead of boats, glitter in the water, and summer, we'll really go "all in" and decorate the stage with Christmas decorations and get that Christmas atmosphere. But of course, the audience needs to dress warmly, and the applause might be a bit quieter because of all the mittens!
"Christmas - Sing-along at Skansen" will be broadcast on SVT on December 23. This means that the program will compete with "Bingolotto's Christmas Eve" with Lotta Engberg and Daniel Norberg on TV4.
