A new Estonia find has been made by Estonian authorities, who began new dives in July, reports Sveriges Radio Ekot. Sweden was offered to participate in the dives but declined.
We found a railing from a part of the bow ramp, says Tauri Roosipuu, investigator at the Estonian Safety Investigation Authority (OJK) to the radio.
The find is, according to him, an important part in the mapping of the shipwreck. The bow ramp itself was salvaged in the summer of 2023.
The bow ramp, the car ramp that according to the accident report was torn off when the visor came loose, has over the years been the subject of speculation and conspiracy theories. But there is no evidence that the Estonia disaster was caused by sabotage of the bow ramp, concluded the Accident Investigation Commission in March this year after examining it.
