The Olympics in Paris is setting a record already before the summer games have started in terms of the number of tickets sold. Right now, 8.6 million tickets have been sold.
The previous record was held by the games in Atlanta in 1996 with 8.3 million tickets, and we broke that a while ago, says Olympics chief Tony Estanguet.
We have also sold 1 million tickets to the Paralympics.
The goal for the French Olympics organizer is to reach 10 million sold tickets to the Olympics, which will take place between July 26 and August 11, and 3.4 million tickets to the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
The positive thing is that we are making available a number of tickets to several sports for both the Olympics, Paralympics, opening and closing ceremonies, says Estanguet.
