This fall, it became clear that Andreas Palicka would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain after this season. Since then, it has been uncertain whether it would also mean the end of his career for the national team's captain, but that will not be the case.
Palicka, who turned 38 years old last summer, has signed with Trondheim club Kolstad until the spring season of 2027. The transfer became official on Thursday.
"The fact that it was a sporting project that I believe in was, of course, decisive," he says in a statement.
Kolstad, with Norwegian star Sander Sagosen on the team, is playing in the Champions League this season, where they have achieved three wins in ten matches.
"When you look at the player squad and how the club thinks - both in the short and long term - I believe that I, after 20 years as a professional handball player, can contribute a lot to the project's continued growth. It means a huge motivation for me to take the step and become a Kolstad player. It's that simple," says Palicka.
The Scanian will play out the rest of the season in PSG, but next up is the World Championship with the national team. The blue and yellow team gathers on Monday in Malmö, where the World Championship preparations begin.
Sweden will play their premiere match against Japan in Oslo on January 16.
