George Philipp Telemann's "Orpheus" will be the next production at Drottningholm Palace Theatre. It is the first time Telemann's opera is performed at the theatre.
The opera premiered in Hamburg in 1726. In Telemann's work, a new main character is introduced into the plot: Orasia, Queen of Thrace, who is unhappily in love with Orpheus.
Elena Barbalich directs and Francesco Corti conducts the production, which premieres on August 2 next year.
