One person has been arrested by the Security Police in the Malmö area as part of an investigation into terrorist crimes, reports TV4 News.

The person is suspected of attempted murder and the arrest is linked to an ongoing case in the Stockholm area where an 18-year-old man is detained for various forms of terrorist crimes.

Johan Wikström, press spokesperson for Säpo, confirms the connection without going into detail about what links the cases together.

It was an operation in the Malmö area yesterday, Thursday, where a person was arrested. This person is suspected of attempted murder. The operation was carried out within the framework of the ongoing investigation, he says to TT.

The person had previously been arrested in their absence and is now arrested. Säpo does not want to disclose the age or gender. In connection with Thursday's operation, a search warrant was also carried out. It is unclear whether it took place in Malmö or elsewhere in Sweden.

The case has a connection to violent Islamist extremism, says Johan Wikström.

On Thursday, an 18-year-old man registered in Skåne was detained on suspicion of preparing for terrorist crimes, participating in a terrorist organization, serious crime, attempted murder, and preparing for serious crime under the law on flammable and explosive goods. The man was arrested in the Stockholm area on Tuesday.
