During the Olympic opening ceremony, team after team was presented to the audience by the Seine River in Paris. So was the Nigerian team.
But the country's women's basketball team was not on the boat. They were denied access to the boat and had to turn back to the Olympic Village again, according to a source to AP.
The team arrived at the Austerlitz Bridge, where the athletes boarded the boats, as planned, to participate in the opening ceremony, but were denied access by a person from the country's Olympic Committee.
The explanation they received was that there were already too many on board, and that they didn't have space.
The team had traveled over 20 miles from Lille, where the basketball group stage is played, to participate in the opening ceremony.
The women's basketball tournament begins on Sunday.
