The boards of Forsmark and Ringhals have decided to divide Vattenfall's nuclear power business unit into two separate business units.
State-owned Vattenfall writes in a press release that the changes of recent years in an already complex operation and new challenges on the energy market are the basis for the division.
"The change is being made to create better conditions for further developing the performance of each respective operation," the company writes.
Björn Linde will remain during a transition period but then hand over to acting CEOs – Jessica Palmqvist for Ringhals and Jan Lundvall for Forsmark – until a new CEO for each company is appointed.
The goal is for the change to be completed by April 1.
