Alexander Edler will be honored on October 11 in connection with Vancouver Canucks' home game against Philadelphia.
The 38-year-old played 15 seasons for Canucks, the last three as assistant captain. He left in 2021 for Los Angeles, where he played for two seasons.
"Getting to end my NHL career where it all started is special for me and my family," Edler says to Vancouver's website.
Edler played 925 games for Canucks, the most of all the team's defensemen of all time, and scored 409 points (99 goals and 310 assists) and also tops that statistic among the team's defensemen.
He also has two World Championship gold medals with Tre Kronor (2013 and 2017) and an Olympic silver medal from Sochi 2014.
