Sweden's handball men face the reigning world champion Denmark in Wednesday's Olympic Games quarterfinal in Lille.

Sweden's Jonathan Carlsbogård had wanted to avoid the team.

Then maybe you want to avoid the Danes, of course, but you could probably figure that out for yourselves, he said about potential opponents after the 40–27 win over Japan earlier on Sunday.

The nightmare opponent is clear after Spain defeated Croatia 32–31 in Sweden's group A late on Sunday evening in Paris. With Spain's win, Sweden did not finish better than fourth in group A, on the same points (6) as Spain and Slovenia but worse placed after head-to-head matches and goal difference. Denmark won group B after five straight wins.

In the women's tournament, Sweden faces Hungary on Tuesday, kick-off at 17.30.
