Volcanoes in eastern Indonesia spewed ash up to five kilometers into the air in connection with three eruptions on Thursday, according to Indonesia's volcanology agency.
Ibu, which is located on the island of Halmahera, had its first eruption shortly after 1 am on the night of Thursday, local time. Later that morning, it had two further eruptions.
The agency advises residents and tourists to cover their eyes and mouths when outdoors and to stay outside a safety zone of between four and seven kilometers from the crater.
Ibu is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes, and the eruptions are the latest in a series that have forced authorities to evacuate several villages over the past month. There are no reports of anyone being injured in Thursday's eruptions.
