An unknown waltz by Chopin, written almost 200 years ago, has been found at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York.
The score, with Frederic Chopin's signature, was discovered by a curator during the spring, reports the New York Times.
Curator Robinson McClellan tells the newspaper that he was initially unsure if the piece was really Chopin's. He photographed the sheet music and played it at home, and also consulted with a Chopin expert at the University of Pennsylvania.
Finally, after examining the ink and the age of the paper, it was confirmed that the notes are indeed Chopin's work. The museum believes that the piece is from between 1830 and 1835, when Chopin was in his early 20s.
Chopin, who mostly wrote solo pieces for piano, was born in Poland in 1810 and died at the age of 39 in France.
