On Saturday, there were double Swedish medals in the Canoe World Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
And on Sunday, the successes continued.
In the very last event of the World Championship, Joakim Lindberg was involved and fought for a medal in the K1 5,000 meters. In a tight race, the Swede finally took third place and secured his second World Championship medal in two days. Lindberg also took silver in the K2 1,000 meters yesterday.
The bronze was not his first World Championship medal in the distance. In 2022, he took World Championship gold, and now, two years later, he grabbed his third World Championship medal in his career in the form of a bronze.
For Melina Andersson, who was a medal hope on the women's side in the K1 5,000 meters, it was a much heavier day. The Swede was far ahead in the final, but hit her paddle, which meant she could not continue.
