In an Israeli air raid in Tripoli, in northern Lebanon, the leader of Hamas' military branch, Al-Qassem brigades, and his family were killed, according to a statement from Hamas.
"Saaed Atallah Ali, his wife, and two daughters were killed in a Zionist bombing of his house in the Beddawi refugee camp", Hamas writes in the statement.
This is the first time since the escalation that a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon has been attacked.
UN: Remaining in southern Lebanon
The Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, which continues to fire rockets at Israel, claims that battles are ongoing against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, near the border with Israel.
According to the newspaper Haaretz, three people were lightly injured in Deir al-Asad in northern Israel when a building was hit by rockets fired from Lebanon.
In a hospital in the community of Bint Jbeil, at least nine employees were injured in an Israeli attack during the night to Saturday, reports Lebanese state media. Israel had called on the hospital to evacuate before the attack.
The country's military writes in a statement that its forces struck a mosque near the hospital. The Shia Muslim movement Hezbollah had a command center inside the mosque, claims the military.
The UN peacekeeping force Unifil states that it will continue to operate in southern Lebanon, despite a request from Israel for relocation.
"Peacekeeping forces remain at all positions and the UN flag continues to fly", Unifil writes in a statement.
Intensive air raids
Israel has motivated its ground offensive into Lebanon by saying it will strengthen security for the tens of thousands of Israelis who live near the border on the Israeli side but have been forced to leave during the past year.
Since the war between Israel and the terrorist-stamped Hamas began on October 7 last year, after Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel, Hezbollah has fired rockets at Israel in support of Hamas. Israel has responded and, nearly two weeks ago, launched intensive air raids against targets across Lebanon.
Around 1,400 Lebanese, including Hezbollah supporters and civilians, have been killed, and approximately 1.2 million have been driven from their homes since Israel stepped up its attacks at the end of September.
