The prices on the stock exchanges in the USA rose across the board on Wednesday, strengthened by increases for several of the tech giants.
Among the winners was the streaming company Netflix, which the day before reported an unexpectedly positive annual report for last year. Among other things, the company gained 19 million new subscribers during the last quarter of the year, according to Netflix largely thanks to a focus on live sports events. The share price surged almost 10 percent.
Procter & Gamble, which sells, among other things, diapers, laundry detergent, and razors, rose 1.9 percent. The consumer giant reported higher profits and revenue than expected.
The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.6 percent, the Dow Jones industrial index increased 0.3 percent, and the Nasdaq's technology-heavy composite index rose 1.3 percent.
