Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is at the White House for talks with US President Joe Biden.
I look forward to discussing with you today and working with you over the coming months, says Netanyahu to Biden.
Netanyahu arrived in a black car with Israeli and American flags and was then escorted into the West Wing, where he and Biden are expected to discuss ongoing negotiations for an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza.
Netanyahu initially thanked Biden for all support over the years. The two leaders then sat down behind closed doors to continue the conversation.
Joe Biden will push for a ceasefire in Gaza "to be needed soon", announces John Kirby, spokesperson for the US Security Council.
We believe that... we can reach an agreement, but it will always require leadership, a certain degree of compromise and effort to get there, says Kirby and continues:
The President will repeat to Prime Minister Netanyahu that he believes we need to get there, and soon.
Later in the day, Netanyahu will meet with Vice President Kamala Harris, and on Friday, he will meet with the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
