About 50 people have drowned in connection with a Hindu festival in eastern India. Most of the victims are children.
So far, 37 children have been found dead in different locations in the state of Bihar after the three-day religious festival. Several people are still missing.
During the Jivitputrika holiday, mothers fast for 24 hours and perform various purification rituals in rivers and ponds, often accompanied by their children.
This year's edition of the holiday coincides with major flooding due to heavy monsoon rains.
Last year, over 20 people also died during Jivitputrika.
