The country's Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys says on X that he and the Minister of Defence have written to Nato chief Mark Rutte and asked for "immediate measures to strengthen Lithuania's air defence capabilities".
The drone violated Lithuanian airspace on 28 July, according to Budrys. It was detected by eyewitnesses in the capital Vilnius and was found at a military training facility on 1 August.
The Prosecutor General Nida Grunskiene says that the drone "carried an explosive charge that was successfully defused by specialists from the Lithuanian army".
The drone is believed to have unintentionally entered Lithuanian territory, but Budrys says that "the threat is real and increasing".
"This is the second incident in less than a month. Similar violations of airspace have also been reported by allies", says Budrys, who believes that Belarus has a responsibility to prevent such incidents.
"If Belarus fails to take measures to minimize potential damage on our side, Lithuania will respond with political and other measures", he says.
