An Israeli drone attack on a UN school building in central Gaza has killed at least 14 people.
The school building is being used as a shelter for Gazans who have been forced to flee and no school activities are currently taking place there. According to the Israeli military, the attack was directed at Hamas forces who are said to have hidden on the school premises.
In total, 34 people, including 19 women and children, have been killed during the night, both in the attack on the school building and on two residential houses.
One of the children killed is a daughter of Momin Selmi, a member of Gaza's civil defense organization. He stayed behind in northern Gaza to work while his family fled south, according to his employer.
More than 90 percent of Gaza's school buildings have been completely or partially damaged by attacks since the Gaza war broke out, according to a report from aid organizations on the ground.
