Minister for Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) states that Iran, according to the Security Service, has used the mosque as a platform for "conducting intelligence and other security-threatening activities against Sweden and against individuals in the Iranian diaspora".

"This is extremely serious", the minister writes on X.

A decision to deport the imam from Sweden was made on Thursday, according to Expressen. The man is currently being held at one of the Migration Agency's detention centers awaiting deportation.

Forssmed says that he has ensured with the Agency for Support to Faith Communities (SST), which has collaborated with the Security Service in the matter, that no funds will be paid to the congregation in question. He refers to the democracy requirement for faith communities that has been in effect since the turn of the year.

"State funds should not go to activities that contradict fundamental democratic values. Period", he writes on X.

The Security Service tells Expressen that they are not conducting any preliminary investigation related to the imam.
