The income differences between men and women are increasing, shows a new analysis by the Mediation Institute.
In 2022, the average income difference was 23.3 percent, which is an increase of 1.2 percentage points compared to 2020.
However, if the median income, the middle value in the population, is measured, the income differences have decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 18.4 percent.
"The development looks different depending on which measure is used. The average differences have increased in recent years. But it is largely an effect of the group with the very highest incomes, where men are overrepresented, pulling away," says the Mediation Institute's Director-General Irene Wennemo in a press release.
