A top police officer in Spain has been arrested in a raid against a suspected cocaine cartel. The arrest was made after police found 20 million euros, equivalent to around 230 million kronor, hidden in walls and ceilings in the police officer's home.

The raid against the drug cartel is said to be the largest of its kind so far in Spain.

The arrested officer, who has been named in Spain, had until very recently been the head of Spain's national police unit that investigates fraud and money laundering. He was one of 15 people arrested in the operation.

The suspect is described as a quiet, discreet, and hardworking police officer. The discovery of millions of euros was made in his home in Alcalá de Henares, about three miles outside the capital Madrid.

In addition, police found one million euros in his office, the money was locked in two cabinets.

A source reports that the former top police officer's girlfriend, also a police officer, has also been arrested.
