Moa Hjelmer is ending her athletics career this year, the 34-year-old sprinter announced on social media.
"It's incredibly emotional to write these words as I end what has been my entire life until now", she writes on Instagram.
Hjelmer's career highlight came at the European Championship in Helsinki 2012 when she took gold on 400 metres. At the indoor European Championship in Gothenburg the following year, she took bronze on the same distance.
The Spårvägen runner has taken two breaks during her career for pregnancy and childbirth. In conjunction with this weekend's national championships in Uddevalla, she is embarking on a farewell tour.
"I hope those of you who see me will come forward and give me a goodbye hug!", she writes.
