The search for the six people who have not been found in the water around the capsized luxury yacht off northwestern Sicily is still ongoing on early Tuesday evening.
But for every hour, the hope of anyone surviving is decreasing. A body was found in the vicinity of the boat during the afternoon, according to BBC, it is believed to be the chef who worked on the boat.
Tight space
The search is otherwise concentrated on areas inside the boat, but the work is being complicated by the boat's position at a depth of almost 50 meters and by debris blocking the cabins, according to Bloomberg.
Firefighters specially trained to work in tight spaces have been deployed in the rescue effort, but divers can only work in 12-minute intervals.
According to a press release from the Italian coast guard, "divers are considering how to safely enter the wreck".
The search will continue as long as necessary. The entire hull will be gone through, meter by meter, says Vincenzo Zagarola according to Bloomberg.
An additional complication is a thunderstorm expected to hit the accident site on late Tuesday.
Well-known entrepreneur
The accident has received significant attention since the yacht was chartered by a well-known tech entrepreneur and billionaire, Mike Lynch. He is one of the missing, as is his 18-year-old daughter.
According to British media, the chairman of the board of investment bank Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, is also missing.
The sailing boat, a luxury yacht over 50 meters long, was anchored about 700 meters from a harbor when sudden storm winds hit it, during early Monday morning.
15 people, including a one-year-old child, were able to be rescued from the yacht. Two people have been found dead.
