Fewer and fewer people pay with cash when they shop. Despite this, a large majority of stores still accept coins and banknotes, a new survey by Svensk Handel shows.
According to the survey, 91 percent of stores accept cash, and few plan to abolish the possibility of paying with cash in the near future. Only 2 percent respond that they plan to do so within a year and 3 percent within one to three years. This despite 76 percent of retailers responding that only 10 percent of consumers pay with cash.
The survey is based on 880 interviews conducted among Svensk Handel's members who operate retail or service trade.
