"The law is in place so that you can trust that an offer is as good as it claims, but it doesn't work if not all traders follow the rules", says Johan Ohlsson, unit manager at the Consumer Agency, in a press release.

The authority is now initiating supervision cases against 30 companies.

The law was introduced in 2022 to reduce the risk of consumers being misled by campaigns and price reductions. If a company lowers the price of a product, it must simultaneously state the lowest price the product has had in the last 30 days.

"We can conclude that there has been an improvement compared to the review in 2023, but significant deficiencies still remain", Ohlsson continues.
