At Tuesday's press conference, the introduction of Millennium was described by a number of regional and healthcare top executives as smooth - an image that clearly was not shared by the healthcare staff. The press conference was interrupted by a dissatisfied employee at Säs.
It's a catastrophe. We have no good education. We have nothing. All my colleagues are just trying to survive, he said.
Responding to criticism
In a statement on Wednesday, the criticism surrounding the press conference was addressed.
"Finally, I apologize if our reactions at the press conference have been perceived as disrespectful or not respectful. It has never been the intention," says Karin Looström Muth, healthcare and development director, in a statement, according to Borås Tidning.
On Wednesday, several crisis meetings were held, according to Göteborgs-Posten. Laura Raduta, chair of the Västra Götaland Medical Association at Säs, says that the management now sees the situation in the same way as the union.
They apologized that they had a different picture of the situation at yesterday's press conference. But afterwards, they have been everywhere and see that the staff are not doing well and cannot perform their tasks, says Raduta to the newspaper.
Looking for a solution
On Wednesday, a new report was also released, describing several problems that have been discovered since the introduction of the new journal system.
According to the report, the region takes the situation seriously and describes it as "an unexpected event that we could not have foreseen. We are putting in all the effort we have to solve this," writes GP.
