It was in February 2024 that the man and woman had sexual intercourse that led to the woman getting cardiac arrest. After the incident, she was cared for at the hospital for several weeks, writes the Prosecution Authority in a press release.
The man is being prosecuted for assault and gross bodily harm.
"The plaintiff and the defendant had a long-term relationship with each other. At the time in question, they had sexual intercourse with elements of strangulation at the man's apartment in Vännäs. It ended with the woman being strangled until the man noticed that she was lifeless. He initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the rescue personnel arrived. They got her heart started and transported her to the hospital, where she lay unconscious for a longer period," says Deputy Chief Prosecutor Edvard Breitholtz according to a press release.
