In a long post on Instagram, Madonna mourns her deceased brother, Christopher Ciccone, who passed away on Friday due to a cancer disease.
"My brother stood right by my side. He was a painter, poet, and visionary. I admired him. He had impeccable taste. And a sharp tongue. Something he sometimes used against me, but I always forgave him", writes the world star.
In their younger years, the two siblings were very close, Christopher Ciccone was, among other things, a background dancer for his sister and artistic director for her "Blonde Ambition" tour. Madonna has, however, not made a secret of the fact that they later became so estranged that they did not speak to each other for a long time.
"We didn't talk to each other for a while, but when my brother got sick, we found our way back to each other. I did my best to keep him alive as long as possible. He was in so much pain towards the end that we once again held each other's hands. We closed our eyes and we danced. Together", writes Madonna.
