In 2022, Oleksandr Budko lost both his legs at the front in Kharkiv, Ukraine, after an explosion. Two years later, the 28-year-old is seeking love in the Ukrainian version of the dating program "Bachelor", reports BBC.

Besides finding love, Oleksandr Budko hopes to spread awareness about the challenges of living with disabilities in Ukraine. When he lost his legs, he was initially forced to move around in a wheelchair in Kiev.

"In the historic city center, you can't go anywhere. You can't cross the road on your own and you can't enter any building because there are stairs everywhere", he says according to BBC.

Since then, Budko has filmed a reality series about accessibility problems for people with disabilities in Ukraine.

TV channel STB believes that Oleksandr Budko's participation can spread hope.

Budko is so popular in his home country that the registration website for the program crashed shortly after it was announced who would be this year's bachelor.
