The new EU Commission has only been in office for barely two weeks. It is still enough for the 46 members of the EU Parliament's left-wing group who already want to table a motion of no confidence.
The reason is a trade agreement with Latin America that Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hopes to get approved by the EU Parliament and EU member states.
"President von der Leyen has decided to introduce this socially unjust and economically criminal deal against the will of the European people", claims the left-wing group leader Manon Aubry, from the French party Unsubmissive France, in a press release.
However, to bring down the EU Commission, at least two-thirds of the Parliament's total 720 members must vote in favor. Moreover, the support of 72 members is required to even hold a vote.
