Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has presented a new government. He hopes it will restore confidence after the devastating war between Israel and Hezbollah.
It is the first time since 2022 that Lebanon has a full-fledged government.
The government will strive to "restore confidence between citizens and the state, between Lebanon and its Arab neighbors, and between Lebanon and the international community", said Salam in a televised speech.
Salam's new government consists of 24 ministers, with posts evenly distributed between Christian and Muslim denominations. Its task will be to rebuild the war-torn region in the south, as well as address a financial crisis that has lasted for several years.
The Shia Muslim militia Hezbollah has participated in and negotiated Shia Muslim positions in the government, although it does not directly support Salam.
