North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un claims that the country's new hypersonic missile system, which was test-fired on Monday, will deter "rival countries" in the Pacific.
The test firing was carried out during US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to South Korea.
"The hypersonic missile system will certainly make rival countries behave in the region," said the North Korean leader, according to the state-controlled news agency KCNA.
Hypersonic missiles move at around five times the speed of sound and can maneuver during flight, making them harder to track and stop. Depending on the design, they can be equipped with both conventional warheads and nuclear weapons.
