A judge has decided to postpone Donald Trump's sentencing in the case of payment of hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels.
The verdict is expected in September.
The announcement comes after Trump's lawyers requested that the decision on the former president's punishment be postponed. The lawyers' request was submitted to the court in New York following the Supreme Court's ruling on Monday regarding immunity from prosecution for former presidents.
Trump was found guilty at the end of May on all 34 counts. He is the first president to be convicted of a serious crime.
The sentence was to be announced on July 11, but Trump's lawyers want the judge to review the case again in light of the Supreme Court's ruling. During the negotiations, the lawyers wanted to exclude some evidence that they claimed was from Trump's time as president.
The new date is far after the Republican Convention on July 15-18 in Wisconsin, where Donald Trump is expected to be formally nominated as a presidential candidate.
Earlier on Tuesday, District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced in a letter to the court in New York that they would not oppose Trump's request.
The trial concerned allegations that Trump ordered payments to individuals, primarily Stormy Daniels – who threatened to reveal sensitive information about him during the 2016 presidential campaign – and then attempted to conceal it in the accounting records of his companies.
