"The Fact" is the title of Johannes Anyuru's new book, which will be published under the Clandestino Festival in Gothenburg from 4-7 July.
The book is Anyuru's rendition of "the brutal core" of the lawsuit that South Africa has filed with the International Court of Justice in The Hague, according to a press release from Clandestino.
South Africa is accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, and Anyuru's book is based on the lecture he gave to protesting students in the so-called Gaza Park in Gothenburg.
In the book, Anyuru presents "facts" but "without the complexities of legal jargon", according to Clandestino. He also weaves in poems by Palestinian poets who were killed in the bombings.
Johannes Anyuru made his debut as a poet in 2003. For the novel "They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears", he received the August Prize in 2017.
