Stoltenberg, who has also been Prime Minister of Norway, will share the leadership of the Bilderberg Group's steering committee with Marie-Josée Kravis from the USA. He tells Norwegian Dagens Näringsliv.

Together with the security conference in Munich, this is a good platform for cooperation between leaders in the political arena, business, and the academic world, says Stoltenberg and adds that the Bilderberg Group has developed into a meeting place for representatives from the USA and Europe.

The influential Bilderberg Group was founded in 1954 and has taken its name from a hotel in Oosterbek in the Netherlands where the first meeting was held.

Nothing said at the annual meetings may be quoted with names mentioned, which has sparked criticism that Bilderberg is a closed, exclusive club for high-ranking individuals.

The Bilderberg Group has also held a meeting in Sweden, in 1984 the invited guests gathered at Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbaden.
