Japanese authorities continue their battle against the pesky tourists who annoy locals, in their pursuit of the perfect picture of Mount Fuji. Now, a high metal fence will be built at another location to stop the tourists.

Residents of Fuji City have complained that mainly foreign visitors wander onto the road on a bridge in pursuit of the perfect picture.

People have stood between two lanes on a bridge and posed for photos or videos with the mountain in the background, according to Fuji City's tourism official Haruhito Yoshizaki.

As a deterrent, authorities have already set up low metal barriers and signs urging people to stay away. The measures have not had the desired effect.

Now, authorities plan to set up a 1.8-meter-high metal fence around the area by the end of June.

The local community "welcomes visitors as long as basic rules are followed," said Yoshizaki, meaning that the measure is intended to reduce "local residents' frustration."

Last month, a large black screen was erected in a nearby city to block the Instagram-famous view of Japan's highest mountain Fuji for tourists.
