Iran has called home its ambassadors from the United Kingdom, France and Germany for talks ahead of the UN reimposing sanctions against Iran. This is reported by Iran's state television.

On Friday evening, it became clear that the UN is reintroducing sanctions against Iran. They are expected to come into force on Sunday evening.

The demand to reinstate the sanctions – which were paused when Iran agreed to a cooperation agreement on, among other things, scrutiny of the country's nuclear energy research in 2015, called JCPOA – comes mainly from France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The three countries have held talks with Iran about a new agreement on scrutiny of the country's nuclear energy program, without achieving any results.
